Install Firefox...

What distro are you using, and what type of file did you download. Usually Firefox is included in your distro's repos

If you downloaded a .bz2 type of file you can extract it then navigate to the directory (folder) and look for the file named firefox click on it or double click on it, that will run it.

If you want to add it to your launcher just create a link from the launcher to that file in that directory.

Good luck to you

I'm sorry but that doesn't make any sense.
Is this on Windows? If so, IE is always installed as it is built into the operating system! To install Firefox on Windows (any version I have come across) you download the installer (which has to be done in IE since there is no other way to download it) then run the installer.

my apologies, yes this is a new comp(windows). I set all of my stuff back to factory settings. I was originally trying to take IE off, but had some issues. IE just clogs up comp so much.

I assumed OP was using a Linux base OS since it shows there on the user agent thing

You cannot remove IE since it is built into Windows. Assuming you didn't get the browser poll screen on startup you may have "Set Program Access and Defaults" on your start menu and there, I think, you can hide IE a little.
