install files

Well, I want to get a mp3 player so I downloaded mpg123 files. Now, I get a file "mpg123-0.59r.tar.gz" that seems like a linux zip file.
What I should do next in order to get it installed and have its icon on Desktop ?

thanks,

There is not an icon for mpg123. It's a shell based program.

You should download XMMS. And the command, if you are compiling everything is:

tar -zxpvf mpg123-0.59r.tar.gz
./configure
./make
./make install

But, most distributions have package managers for installing software so you don't have to do that.

I did everything as u said

after 'tar -zxpvf mpg123-0.59r.tar.gz' i go to the its folder and typed

localhost mpg123-0.59r]$ ./configure
bash: ./configure: No such file or directory

Actually, I got XMMS, but when I open a mp3 file, i didnt work
