install fedora core 5 on win vista hp desktop that has crashed is that possible?


hp desktop pavilion win vista home prem. intel (r) dual quad processor 2.0 ghz speed 800hz 500gb 1024 cash memory 2048 memory pata controller sata contoller onboard lan onboard lan boot rom onvoard 1394 onboard audio nividia pheonix award bios cmos setup utility
the windows crashed due to virus it did a fix disk self check on its own and started deleting files before i could stop it i had just come home, i would like to install fedore core 5 to get it up and running it hangs with windows disks stops with fedora and gives a panic cpu and acpi issues says timer not sure what its asking me to change the other problem is my cd/dvd light scribe is not correct it does work but it is set for achi which is not right. any ideas would be welcome. thank you.

Fedora core 5 is an old version. Latest is Fedora 21. You should install the newest ones. But just check if your system provides the minimum requirements of Fedora.

Also is your cpu 64bit capable?

yes it is 64 bit capable can i download it as iso and burn it with active iso burner or do i need a different burner? the current pc i am using is a dual boot fedora / xp but show far i have not figured out the wireless issue on the fedora side xp side is good i know its something rediculous i am missing. its 3.1 or something vers. my dell laptop is only 40g not big

You can download it in windows & access through your fedora file manager.

do I need to install anything first before i install f21

I have done dual boot but not single boot this time the system is crashed and i am putting one os on it for now but will partition when i get to that point, do i need to download anything before i do an install

Apart from the Fedora .iso, which it sounds like you've already done, I wouldn't think so.

You do know that the desktop kay have a recovery partition if it came with vista pre-installed?
