install exited abnormally

I have been trying to install Red Hat 9for two days now, so far I've got to the actual install thenit stops and i get this:
install exited abnormally
sending termination signals...done
sending kill signals...done
disabling swap...
then it unmounts file systems and last line says: you may safely reboot your system.
Please, I want this to work so I can learn this bad boy.

Did you test the media? Did the installation program even get
to that point?

I did test the media, tested ok. media was bought in a Red Hat for Dummies book. It ran through the format procedure and started to install then it went out of the GUI and into what looks like comand line. it picked up with install exited abnormally after X server started successfully.

sounds like redhat doesnt like some of your hardware (maybe) can you tell us of any oddball hardware you have, especially mobo proc ram vid card and also try some other distros maybe this is a redhat specific problem (i dont like redhat anyways)
