Install dvda-author packages

I'm running ubuntu 11.10 with xfce desktop and have downloaded, from sourceforge, two deb packages for creating dvd-a files.

dvda-author_10.06.400.core-2_i386

dvda-author-gui-09.02-2-i386

Each unzips into 2 folders - 'debian' and 'usr'. These, in turn, have contents but nowhere can I find clear installation instructions.

Can anyone help please?

The packages you have downloaded are dated '2010'
http://sourceforge.net/projects/dvd-audio/files/
.. and may be usable in e.g. Ubuntu 10.10 .

dvda-author-10.06-300.i386.deb dvda-author_10.06.400.core-2_i386.deb
dvda-author-gui-09.02-2-i386.deb : No luck with Ubuntu 11.10 .
( Example install command : sudo gdebi dvda-author-10.06-300.i386.deb ).

'dvdauthor' is present in your 'Package Manager'.
There is no GUI package for 11.10. ( There is a qdvdauthor for 10.10 ).

Dvda-author* source code is available from the link, and may
or may not work on Ubuntu 11.10.

Thanks for your reply. I want to create dvd-audio iso files. I think that dvdauthor is only suitable for creating video.

I've downloaded and installed the source file dvda-author-09.05

I've downloaded the gui file dvda-author-gui-09.02

The README says 'To build from source, please install Qt4.4 on your machine or later.' I searched for Qt4, downloaded and installed it then followed the same README 'under linux, enter make to build the executable'. That seemed to work ok.

Launching the executable file 'gui' brought up the gui window and allows me to create an AUDIO_TS file. But setting the options so as also to create an iso file (which I can burn with K3b) does not seem to work.

I checked that 'mikisofs' is installed and launchable from the command line. I used as input a test file /home/don/Desktop/Test.flac (329MB)and set the options to create an iso file /home/don/Desktop/Testiso and a log file on /home/don/Desktop/Testlog.

The program outputs these messages

Quote:
