Install drivers for Hardware

How do I install drivers for my Samsung printer from my CD so that I can print or scan documents using this computer.

Sigshane 06-19-2015 06:13 AM

Good morning! I'd imagine that the CD doesn't include Linux drivers, and that you'll most likely have to use CUPS (Google "Linux CUPS") to enable your printer. Hopefully, there will be support for both print and scan capability in one of the Samsung driver files.

You'll need the model number of the printer to find which driver to use once CUPS is configured.

Hope that helps,

Shane

Since you don't tell us anything about what "Samsung printer" you're using, how it's connected to the computer, or what kind of computer, running what version/distro of Linux, what do you think we'll be able to tell you???

Yeah, I noticed that too, so I just tried to give a path to learning, and let him/her do some self-help. Because in the long run, it's this exact kind of problem that I for one learned how to find solutions to problems on my own ;-)

Hi Danfok...

You will need to install this driver. You should be able to double click on the file to unpack it to a location of your choice. Then you can follow the instructions here. The file you will need to look for in the driver folder you just extracted is called "install.sh" Once you do that, the driver should install. :)

If you experience problems, please post the contents of whatever error message(s) you receive.

Regards...
