install different guest OS in XEN of FC6

I am a newbie in Xen and I have a problem in installing a different guest OS. My Dom 0 is FC6 and I successfully installed and ran a guest OS of FC6 by using virt-install. When I wanted to install another guest OS, ie, RH9 using the same method, it responded: ERROR: Invalid NFS location givenL [Errno 2] No such fle or directory: '/var/lib/xen....../xen/vmlinuz.
What should I do to make it happen? Thanks.

xen sux

Hi

Yes I've been battling with this too!

1) The iso's were unpacked as per the Red Hat manual "3.7.1.1. Using ISO Images for NFS Installs". http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...stall-net.html
2) NFS setup and the url given as "nfs:127.0.0.1:/path/to" per the manual. This did not work.
3) Also tried "http://anorien.csc.warwick.ac.uk/mirrors/centos/4.4/os/i386/" which did not work.
4) Tried this "http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/6/i386/os/" which is taking a month of Sundays to come back and besides I require an Enterprise Linux install...

Will log a thread on the Fedora Forums for this.

To follow up on this I figured out that there must be a path_to_os/images/xen directory with a xen vmlinuz and initrd.img.

Hope this helps

install different guest OS in XEN of FC6

Yes I Agree with you..

The way Xen on FC4-FC5 works is different from FC6. Does anyone know found the solution for the same i.e. how to install other OS as Guest OS on Xen-FC6.

Regards,
Nilesh

i had a very bad experience with FC6. I tried full 1 month in getting windows os on top of xen in fc6 but it didnt worked. I tried all possible ways but no.
So i switched over to opensuse10.2 Which is the best for this purpose....

So if there is no boundation to use FC6...i would suggest to go with SuSE....MUCH BETTER

All the best

I think the installation is the same as what you install a new FC6. The only tricky thing that I have encountered was, the partition to be used. I have tried to create a partition dedicated for the virtual machine in domain 0 but failed. I don't know why but it seems that the virtual-domain cannot recognize the partition I have created for it. So, I removed the virtual machine partition but instead, created a directory under / in domain 0. That worked without any problem.
Moreover, in the virt-install, you can share the DVD ISO in domain 0 and mount as netfs. use NFS to connect to the DVD image during virtual domain installation.
For the details, you may need to check for the documentation.
