install cvs on fedora?


when i type cvs in bash it repies not found

but when i look in my packages it says its installed

newbie needs help

Type whereis cvs. The directory the cvs executable lives in might not be in your $PATH - the list of directories that is searched for matching programs when you type a command. If that's the case simply type the full path to the program - /usr/local/bin/cvs as an example. If typing the full path gets tiresome you can add the directory where cvs lives to your $PATH. There are several good discussions on this subject here so use the search function at the top right of this page to find out more.

It sounds like it's not (properly) installed then. Try reinstalling the rpm from the command line: rpm -ivh cvs-blah-blah.i386.rpm if you use an RPM-based distribution like RedHat, Mandrake or SuSE.
