Install Cinnamon to Linux Mint 13 MATE?
Hi, I know that Mint 14 is out today but I don't want the hassle of upgrading and reinstalling all my programs. Is there any way in which I can install Cinnamon to my existing OS?
I have been using Mate for over a year and I feel a new experience with Cinnamon would be fun. Thanks, gael |
sure, just install it like any other package with apt-get or whatever other tool you use. there is ***NOTHING*** special about the MATE version vs the Cinnamon version. I think it's stupid they even release them as different releases, as it leads to situations like this.

It should be one of the meta packages you need to install that will install all of cinnamon.
apt-cache search --names-only meta Check each one to find the one that installs all of Cinnamon apt-cache showpkg mint-meta Then install it. sudo apt-get install package-meta |
