install canon pixma mg2920 using linux mint 17
 

hi i am tom new to linux and find the exprience great
i am having a proplem installing a neew canon PIXMA MG 2920 my os is Linux Mint 17 can anyone help me or direct me for some help

i resolved it i took it back and got an HP

A web search for "Canon pixma mg 2920 linux" turned up not much of anything that I could find. I also found no reference to that machine at OpenPrinting.org; that's not conclusive, as that site depends heavily on volunteer contributions, but it is telling.

Canon's reputation for its support of Linux is not stellar. You may find some kind of generic driver that will make it do something, but that is something I have no experience with.

Solution for MG2920 on Linux Mint?
 

I downloaded the rpm from Canon and used alien to convert the enclosed x86-64 rpm to a .deb file.
It seemed to install, but haven't been able to print a test page yet. Your mileage may vary.
