Install bind 9.7 in centos


Hi,

Thanks in Advance,

i want to install bind 9.7 in centos , if i give using yum install bind means i get only bind 9.3 version, for that i need to create any new repo?? kindly share your ideas to solve this thread,

well a few seconds on google says there are 9.7 rpms in a repo called "centalt" which I have never heard of and probably wouldn't touch. You can upgrade the system to centos6 and get 9.7 installed properly from the standard repos, or you can install it from source.

Hi acid_kewpie,

we planned to migrate our server to 5.6, if i continue with the 9.3 version means what are the main drawbacks?? i need to face??

why would you migrate to an old version of software? There possibly are good reasons, but I would initially question that a LOT. TBH I don't really know the big differences between the versions, I know there are some changes in update mechanisms, but that's just my experience.
