i am trying to configure the my new (noname) ir remote but somehow it doesn't work the way i want it to (ubuntu 9.04).
i installed lirc first. after plugging the usb in, it functioned immediately without any configuration. Almost all keys are functional (up, down, left, right, return, ... even mouse moves).
i wanted to assign the 'c' and escape keys to any of the remote buttons but it didn't work. changing the lirc configuration files had absolutely no effect. i stopped all lirc processes, uninstalled lirc and the keys that functioned initially still function.
i came to the conclusion that someone else besides lirc manages input from the usb infrared device.
So ... how do i configure whatever it is?!
dmesg doesn't log anything when pressing the buttons on the remote.
