Information from Hollywood

I came across a Wikipedia page with title of:
List of Linux Distributions.
Of which throws more confusion into the whole Linux thing.
" if " this Wikipedia page shows reality, what is next.
Is there any more distinguishing titles.
Why cannot any one just spell it out as it is.
Linux as parent / child - Distributions / more ? / " the child " " the item that is "

Is there any resource that can just put into place and words the facts without the hollywood effects.
I " was " getting ready to purchase a " new " machine to install Debian into and i am just getting sick and tired of all of the pure bs that is available for information.
I have been reading Computer tech books for the last 3 to 4 years learning web site development and i just cannot understand why educated people cannot just spit out the facts as they are in a logical comprehensive way.
I have seen in web site development what is called crumbs , that is to lead some one on, and on.
And i have seen in book Publishers and Authors how they lure a person into buying more and more books, when one sentence could suffice.
In society some one may say to another person " lead me on " as a sarcastic reply to a con job.
If there is any reliable source of information on any thing Linux, please let me know. I just do not see why educated people need to take any thing that is complex and make it into a hell experience.
Thank you.

Hi, welcome to LQ!

Sorry, I'm completely at loss as to what your question is.

Lure, Hollywood, ... che?

Linux is what it is; it's a kernel. And there are a ton of varied
distributions to make interaction with the kernel easier/more useful.

Asking for a simplified view is like asking why there are so many
different cultures all over the globe. Has nothing to do with lure
or Hollywood, it's just what it is.

Cheers,
Tink
