Info: cannot find node `Top'
Hello
I have Slackware (Linux 2.6.27) installed about a month or two ago and my info installation does not work. info works if I use -f to give it the file but that is so cumbersome and there is much documentation to read in info pages. Even info info says cannot find node `Top'. I remember I have seen this error occasionally since a long time, and now that I have my own Linux installation it is still there. Anyone knows why this happens ? Can I generate somehow that info/dir file ? I think every program I install patches this file to add links to its documentation in it, but it only contains some diff commands. I tried setting INFOPATH to /usr/info, still the same message. Do you know how can I get info working ? What should INFOPATH be set to ? Thank you, Timothy Madden |
Hi, and welcome to LQ!
Good choice of distro, btw ;} Have a look at this thread: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...urrent-683857/ Looks familiar? Cheers, Tink |
I read that thread, it just leaves the problem opened, and I do not understand all they say.
Besides they are trying to get at the source of the problem, I just want to re-create that dir file and use info normally. Anyone knows how to do that ? Thank you, Timothy Madden |
