You'll need to boot into linux so you can change it do this ...

At grub press c
type the following

root (hd0,0) #where (hd0,0) is where your kernels are installed
kernel /the-name-of-the-kernel.0.6
boot

Hope this helps

Ok then you need to download a live cd. Like knoppix or slax.

The smallest download that will work that I know of is the gentoo minimal install cd, 50 mb ?

No what you do is:

run the cd
go to a root terminal and type

mkdir /dev/hda1 /boottemp #where /dev/hda1 is your boot partition

cd /boottemp

dir

#you can see your kernels (write it down)

cd grub

gedit -w menu.lst #replace gedit with the text editor that is installed if the file is blank then try grub.conf instead

add this to the file

root (hd0,0) #where (hd0,0) is where your kernels are installed
kernel /the-name-of-the-kernel
boot

either your live cd will work or your installation will be fine. I would recommend live cd. TIP: If it sais stuff about you not being root, put this infront of the commands: sudo
