indicator applet crashing constantly

I reloaded ubuntu 14 and then XFCE because its faster than Unity.
My wifi and other indicators on my bottom tray keeps crashing and then I get a message " do you want to restart it".
How can I fix this in the terminal. It didnt do this last time I had XFCE4.
Also are there any other desktop environs that are better than XFCE
and faster ...??I tried LXDE but that never worker good.
Should I try another Linux altogether???? I have been a sole Linux guy for 10 years.... but the inability to use Windows programs has always SUCKED. We NEED a utility to fix that.....WINE wasnt good enough...

I like Mate more than XFCE, but whether or not it's better is a matter of personal preference. As for your problem, I've seen something similar, but it's gone away. Perhaps a conflict between XFCE and Unity components? Do you have the same problem with Xubuntu?

Try another Ubuntu based distro "Linux Mint", this one is tuned for easy use.

"Better" is only a generic term among GNU/Linux users, usually the meaning can differ in great magnitude reaching the region of idiosyncrasy. So, to say what is better it depends purely in your very taste and intentions. Though GNU/Linux is ALWAYS BETTER than the proprietary windows.

Inability to run M$Windows app (over Gnu/Linux) really SU..S, especially when the user has no ability to use Gnu/linux apps over it. So, it is best to use Gnu/linux apps for Gnu/linux, and pay for M$Win apps for M$win... WINE is only a pain reliever, not a cure.

Good luck.

what you can try: instead of restarting it, remove it from the panel.
does this leave you with a usable system?
maybe you have some duplicates because you changed unity to xfce?
are you logging into the xfce4-session?
