index.php no being displayed

Hello,

For some reason whenever I upload an 'index.php' in my htdocs folder for my homepage. This does not display as the default homepage instead I just see my index file directory.

There are no other files in the htdocs folder at this point.

However when i Delete or change the extention on the file

from

index.php

to

index.htm or .html this then displays the page as default homepage as it should.

Any Ideas whats up

Thanks in advance

The problem is with your "DirectoryIndex" setting in your apache config file (httpd.conf).

Change from:
Code:
DirectoryIndex index.html
To:
Code:
DirectoryIndex index.php index.html
For more details on this, look at:
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/1.3/mod...directoryindex

Your webserver needs to be configured for support for PhP.
I know for certain that's true with Apache (there is a PhP module that needs to be included
and I know you can specify "index.php" as default page).
Look for instance to httpd.conf, .htaccess and alike.
