increase streaming speed
I am running a dual boot with xp. I am assuming that since I have no streaming issues in xp then something is wrong with puppy. I have the newest version of puppy(full install) and have flash 10 installed. Can anyone help.

You're running an old version of flash. For Linux the "latest" version is 11.2 I don't know if this is the cause of your problem but you should update your flash player. Also, are you using the latest version of Puppy?

hi and thanks for the help. I am running flash 10. I did have 11.2 installed. I switched to 10 just to see if that would help. I will reinstall 11.2 and see what happens. I have puppy5.7 installed. Getting puppy setup so that I never have to deal with microsoft again is my goal. It now has become somewhat of an obsession, however I am not computer literate. Can you suggest the best way to get remote help? and again, thank for your time.

ok, reinstalled flash 11.11. still buffering. for example, in youtube, it plays fine on small screen but not on large screen.

Sounds like a graphics card driver problem.
|
ok what's the best way to fix problem.
|
The best way to start fixing this is to let us know what card you've got.
|
yes, that is encoding issue. make sure you are using the correct drivers, not generic drivers for your vid card, network adapter, and the chipset. although 99.9% of the time the linux kernel will correctly install the chipset drivers for the mainboard.
also keep in mind that flash support for linux is pathetic, this is nothing to do with linux and everything to do with the owners of flash. youtube for the most part should be running html5 instead of flash anyways. what browser are you using in puppy? |
Pepperflash is not that bad.

I have the latest version of firefox.

You can follow these instructions to find out how much video card ram you have. I'm also using the radeon driver with 256M memory (64bit) and have no buffering problems using full screen.
