incorrect module???
 

If you may recall i had a post asking if anyone could help me with my Ac97 sound card......noone replied....but anyway....got the darn module to load up at boot time....it use to say FAILED.....now it says ok......(i did sndconfig again)....but there is still no sound coming out.....XMMS says theres an error and cdplayer don't even work.....please help!!

Could part of YOUR problem be YOUR atitude?

Actually if you do a search on Ac97, it turns up many results here as this is asked all the time. If you haven't done so already, might want to browse thru these and see if it answers any of your questions you may have.

thanks trickykid at least you were more polite then pickledbeans....and i did not have an attitude.....even if i did i am 14 years old....u know teenagers these days get pretty pissed off easy :P

btw i did a search....thats how i got the module loading...but ohwell, thanks anyway

ok then, what errors do you get and are you root or regular user trying to play cd's ??

Also you can possibly try doing this:

chmod 666 /dev/dsp
chmod 666 /dev/mixer

Can't think of any others that might need changing as well, this should change the default permissions so all users have read and execute permissions.

tricky with even permissions set you won't get executable bit
chmod 777 /dev/dsp
chmod 777 /dev/mixer
