Inactivity timeout (--ping-restart) in OpenVpn

Hi all,
My Openvpn Server(2.0.9) is configured on Centos 5.4.Now verything is working fine.I had tested it from WinXp machine using Openvpn Client(2.1).The problem is after every 5 minutes its reconneting.log files showing "Inactivity timeout (--ping-restart)".Then i changed keep alive from "keepalive 10 120" to "keepalive 10 600".But now its reconnecting after every 40 minutes. How can i resolve this pbm.
Advance thanks

Regards,
Ajayan

I think that there is no problem to resolve. The reconnection is transparent to the user so they don't notice any disruption of their connections. You can ignore the reconnections notifications in the server log.

Thanks...The problem is reported by a client who, downloads fedora12 DVD through Mozilla. When the connection resets the download get stopped. What about increasing the value in Keep alive?Whether it will resolve.

Well, the keep-alive mechanism is there to detect client disconnections in udp mode. More on that in this post: http://openvpn.net/archive/openvpn-u.../msg00022.html If you increase the values, there might be longer lag between automatic re-connections of the client. I don't know why the keep-alive ping messages don't come through for this client of yours. Maybe you can try using tcp instead of udp for your openvpn setup.
