In Ubuntu, can I turn off having to enter my password for some things.

At intstalling Ubuntu, I checked the option to automatically log me in, but some programs do require the password. My most used program that requires a password is Synaptic Package Manager.

So provide it with the password.
It takes no time to do so.
It's not a good idea to change the security settings, they are there for a reason.

Kind regards

Well, it's your system, but, as repo said, not very wise to configure it so anyone can add software to it.

If, however, you really want to be stupid about it, you can add the NOPASSWORD option to entries for specific programs in the /etc/sudoers file. The file contents is described in the man sudoers output (in formal "computer geek" speak, since only geeks are supposed to muck with the file.)
