Question In SuSE 8.0

Hi, guys...

I'm running SuSE 8.0 on Dell Inspiron 5000e (Notebook).
I have two questions.

1. Do I need to configure a modem in "YaST2->Network Basics" with the configurations of Network Cards(Ethernet Cards, YaST couldn't detect automatically)...? I'm using a cable modem (RCA).

2. Does it matter that a network card is booted first and PCMCIA later....? Actually, a network card detection is skipped with signs that "Skipped, Don't worry it will be set up later....".

Thanks,
Shin,

I have no experience with SuSE but the start up routines for most distros seem the same. It's normal to see eth0 (fail, delayed etc). You have no worries as long as you get the correct beeps (The tones of the beeps indicate success or failure of particular configuration steps. Two high beeps indicate that a card was identified and configured successfully). A high beep followed by a low beep indicates that a card was identified, but could not be configured for some reason. One low beep indicates that a card could not be identified.

for general information on configuring a card try:

for more information specific to SuSE:
