In LiveCD NOW & Formating Hard Disk Drive for Ubuntu Intrepid with /, /home, /usr/
I'm running a LiveCD session now. I have the partitioning table up. I want to format my drive (320 gig) with as many partitons as will help Ubuntu not get messed up when I upgrade, etc.
I know about /home (to be determined) and / (12 gig) in a separate partition What size is recommended for /boot /tmp /usr /var /srv /opt /usr/local |
Unless you're running a server you don't really need separate partitions for all of that. Make them too big and you waste space, make them too small and you run into problems.
Just create a / and /home partition and you'll be just fine. |
Thanks, but what about
/swap? |
