imaqc g5 ppc - what distro?

I was recently given (free) an imac g5 with a 2.1GHz PPC chip and 512mb of ram. It's currently running OSX 10.5.8 and it seems as though any of the newer software I want to run (firefox, chrome, etc) isn't supporting this OS. As this is the newest version of OSX that'll run on the thing I think it may be time to upgrade to linux so I can take advantage of new software and the like.

Can anyone recommend a good distro for this model? It's the last generation of the ppc imac, it has the isight camera and everything.

Thanks!

I don't know about the general hardware support, but distributions that have support for the PPC-architecture are Debian, Arch, Gentoo, Frugalware, Yellow Dog, Crux, Source Mage and the *BSDs. Keep in mind that on most of the Linux distros (if not all) the 64 bit version currently is only a 64 bit kernel with 32 bit userland, but I don't know if that is true for the *BSDs.
