Image of Centos

Hi there.
I am having centos 4.5 and i want to take the image of the system and put that image in some other machine which is windows or may be a new machine without any OS. so can you please tell what are the softwares available for us. and i have one question in my mind i.e after putting the image in that system will the OS be able to take the drivers of that other machine and what will happen to the IP and the Domain name that we have already specified there. will it be same if yes can show me a way how to change the domain name of the new machine.
Thanks

Sounds like you are wanting to make an image of Centos installed on a machine then copy that image to the other machines. The problems you will run into is the modules that are loaded for the master image machine on the other machines unless hardware is identical brand, make, model, version and so forth. If hardware is identical then copy the image to it and boot up not connected to the network. Make the changes to the network IP and reboot. If hardware differs then you are going to need to modify /etc/modprobe.conf, /etc/X11/xorg.conf, possible /etc/fstab, /etc/mtab, and /boot/grub/grub.conf. Linux distros are not the best and plug and play as hardware modules go. It can be done but the time to do all the above it would be quicker to install from cd or faster over the network.
