im lost
 
OK i need a little help here I'm trying to install suse 6.3 on a amd k62 450mhz with 256 ram matrox mystique video card with a 8gb and 3 gb hard drives and i have no idea as to what im doing. it tells me that it needs extra perimeters when its almost ready to restart the first time when i try to install it and im lost.
any help would be great. im lookin mainly for a step by step thing.
but anything will help.

you know what would likely run great on that box?
College Linux - it's only one iso to download and is known for being fast on even older machines.

the only thing you need to do is create your own partitions, but that's easy, you can do that with the install cd - all you need is a swap partition that is the same size as your ram and a / root partition, then you are set, the rest of the install is supereasy, just pick the easy mode where you can.

ok i think i found my problem . when ever imin setup and it says to load linux it starts the kernel then gives me a general protection fault :0000

kernel panic: attempted to kill the idle task!
in swapper task-not syncing

if anyone knows what this means and can help me out cause i have no idea as to what im doing. i understand how to use linux i just cant get it to install

Use a much newer distro. SuSE 6.2 is ancient!
