Well, what exactly is your system configuration? And what kind of errors do you get? Maybe it's your harddisk which is about to crash and which is causing all these errors.

FreeBSD is not Linux and I wouldn't recommend it to beginners. Its not user friendly at all.

What do I recommend to you? Well, to read up more on Linux, perhaps dual boot between Linux and Windows until your ready to make a full switch.

And I would recommend going with Suse or Mandrake to begin with.

And if you supplied exact errors and when they happen, like at boot time or afterwards, that might help determine what your problem is, if its hardware issues, software or even operator errors.

But Linux and *BSD is not Windows, don't expect it to do everything for you and its not a point and click system, you'll need to learn some command line configurations and such, it makes it quite easier instead of relying on the graphical user interfaces to configure your machine for you.
