Hello, I am new to Linux (I'm using Ubuntu for starters) and I would like to know the most about it. However, I do not know where to start. Usually I consult websites but they aren't useful for a complete and structured introduction to something that I know nothing of. For that, I prefer a book. So (unless you know a very good website) could anybody recommend a good book for newbies like me that talk of Linux (and, ideally, Ubuntu specifically)? That would really help. I am so confused by the filesystem (since I come from the Windows world, it is a radical shock to see that programs are scattered all over the place instead of in one, single folder).
Awaiting a response,
Marc
Thank you, it's a great article. However, I've already found out most of those things by now. I want something a little more concise, because yes, for the absolute beginner this is a superb introduction, but by rummaging around I have already found out all these basic things. I mostly want to understand how Linux works, and eventually how to use it. So if anyone has other suggestions I'd be glad to hear them.
Thank you anyway scoobyracer.
