if I edit the /etc/hosts file how to detect the new host without restarting the pc


HI all keen buddy buddies:-)

if I edit the /etc/hosts file how to detect the new host without restarting the pc.

is there any command for that?

Enter the necessary data for the new host in the /etc/hosts file and ping it.If you get a reply,it's detected.

You do not need anything special after saving a modified /etc/hosts file - the next time any program needs some name resolving it will be used with it's current settings.
