IE on Ubuntu?

I'd like to view the "Watch Instantly" movies available with my Netflix account. Is there any way I can use the Internet Explorer browser on my system? (Ubuntu Feisty, on Dell Laptop.) Thanks.

ies4linux. You'll also need to install wine and cabextract.

I thought that ies4linux included wine....

Moose;
Does Netflix not work with something like Firefox? If not, we need to pressure them to fix it. I have had some success getting people to fix their websites---I think it is good to at least try.

It might. I haven't installed ies4linux in a few years. Last time it complained about wine and cabextract not being installed.

According to the Wine application database, at least some versions of Internet Explorer should run on Wine; see this page for more details. Not sure how well it works in the end, but if it's your only chance, you might want to try it.. I too recommend pushing the site maintainers a little to change the sites so they work with other browsers as well, not least because the web should be an experience that is independent of the user end operating systems and such, and Explorer is fairly well known not to run easily on anything else than Windows and some Macs.. (I just wonder how many Mac users really use Explorer on it).

sudo apt-get install wine

I get this:

Err http://www.getautomatix.com feisty/main wine 0.9.47~winehq0~ubuntu~7.04-1
404 Not Found
Failed to fetch http://www.getautomatix.com/apt/dist....04-1_i386.deb 404 Not Found
E: Unable to fetch some archives, maybe run apt-get update or try with --fix-missing?

Also: I phoned Netflix Tech Support, and the person I spoke with said they had "thought" about it, but so far, no plans to make Netflix View Instantly available on anything but IE. Bummer.

Also: I added the User Agent Switcher add-on to the Fox, but when I try to view a movie, it tells me I must enable ActiveX. Can I do this?

Thanks.

Removed automatix from the repositories, then wine and ies4linux installed beautifully.

Using and browsing with ie6 for linux.

Tried to 'View Instantly' a movie from Netflix, but it still won't work. Guess more is needed than just the IE browser, maybe XP with service pack such-and-such ..... or whatever.

Bummer. Thanks for the help.

I'll try VirtualBox and let you know how it goes. But before I do that, I need to get to the store and purchase a USB storage device to backup my junk, before upgrading. VirtualBox is available for Dapper and Gutsy, but not Feisty.
