id3 lib relocation error

I am running FC 1 kernel-2.4.22-1.2188.nptl.i686.rpm.

I am trying to edit my mp3 tags using easytag0.3 but get the error

"easytag: relocation error: /usr/lib/libid3-3.8.so.3: undefined symbol: cerr"

I have tried installing the rpm for libid3-3.8 several times. Although the install is sucessful, it does not change this error. I read on another post that kernel upgrades may cause packages to be compiled in the previous version. I tried to check the linking for the kernel as shown below (a command I got from a post on this site) and as you can see was unsuccessful.

[root@localhost root]# ls -l /usr/src/linux
ls: /usr/src/linux: No such file or directory

Any ideas on what the error means, and how to work around? I got the libid3 rpm from freshrpms.net

How can I check and set the kernel linking for Fedora?
