.ics Files on CentOS server
 

We have a server that we used as file/image server. This is where we put files and images that we will use in the websites that we create inside the company.

The problem is, when i save the .ics files in our Linux server (CentOS), and then use Firefox to open access the link, it open in text instead of a calendar form. There is no problem when i open the link in Internet Explorer.

I tried saving the .ics file in our Windows File/Image server and i can open it on IE and FF without problem.

My question is, is there something wrong with Linux hosting .ics file or is it FireFox that has a problem dealing with .ics files?

.ics means iCalendar. If you have the right MIME type configured for serving them (meaning something like x-application/ical and not text/plain) then maybe FF wasn'tconfigured with a receiving application that can handle them properly?

but if we access the ics on our windows server, there is no problem on FF. we can download ics.

As unSpawn said above, the MIME type for .ics is missing from your Linux server. It's obviously included in your Windows server. The MIME type is used to tell clients (browsers) what type of file they are downloading. In the case of .ics, Windows and IE obviously both know what to do, but FF doesn't.

If you enter a MIME type on the Linux box for .ics it should work fine for Firefox
