Talking icons in window maker?

I have seen some screenshots of icons on the desktop for window maker. Does anyone know how to put those on the desktop and make them point to a program to open? I know theres appicons, which I already am using, but just wanted to know how to just get icons on instead of appicons? Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

Use the ROC desktop. Install the base package and the filemanager, then you can just drag icons to the desktop (if you enable the pinboard option)

I don't mean to sound like an idiot. I am quite new to Linux, but I enjoy Window Maker. What exactly is the ROC desktop?
