Iconify problems in Blackbox

I installed Blackbox as our window manager, I got BBkeys to work for the most part; however, when I hit the "Alt-m" keys to iconify the window, it disappears, and you have to hit the middle mouse button for a menu, then you have to highlight Iconify, and then click on the window that disappeared. I was under the impression that iconify would put an icon on the screen, then you'd just have to click on the icon to maximize the window. I also thought that there would be some kind of hotkey sequence that would bring it back, but I don't see anything that will do it. Can you assist me? Thanks.

I think the term "iconify" is misleading. Blackbox does not draw any icons on the desktop at all. When you iconify the window, yes, it disappears. None of the *box window managers put icons on the root window natively, so if you are looking for that, you will have to run Rox, and use it's pinboard, or perhaps another such program. If minimized icons on the desktop are not a huge deal for you, have you tried Fluxbox? Fluxbox "iconifies" to its panel, so you can see what is minimized. It also has native keybindings, so you don't have to run bbkeys. I found bbkeys to be buggy. Also, Fluxbox has transparent everything, and looks great. Food for thought...

Fluxbox questions

Ok, I installed Fluxbox, as it has been recommended to me by several people. Everything is working great with it, just have a few questions:

1. I went into .fluxbox/keys, and was able to configure Mod1+M to minimize xterm windows, the xterm windows disappears off the screen, is there a key command to bring it back? I know that by clicking the middle mouse button, go to Icons, then Xterm brings it back, but we want to use Mod1+__ to bring it back.

2. How do I configure Xterm windows to become active when the mouse cursor is dragged over them? Currently you have to click on the window that you want for it to become active.

Thanks for all your help

Off the top of my head, I am not sure of the name of the option, but I know there is an option to iconify apps to the bar in Fluxbox. Right click on the desktop and go to the FLuxbox menu. There are lots of options there. The only problem with this is you can't alt+tab through the items iconified to the bar. I always clicked on the iconified app in the bar - never used a keystroke to bring the windows back, sorry. Also look in the fluxbox menu for setting the focus method - you can set it for focusing windows when the mouse is over them, instead of having to click.
