Icon theme for kde

I found an icon theme that I wanted to install, but I am getting something small mixed up I think. I just unzipped the package and made a new folder in ~.kde/share/Themes where I left it. Next, I followed the directions:

How to install a new icon theme

Open the KDE-Menu and start the Control Center
Click on "Look and Feel" and "Icons"
Browse to the location of the new icon theme by clicking the small folder button
Click on "Install New Theme" to add the new icons
Click "Apply"
Have fun! :-)

but I get the following error message: The file is not a valid icon theme archive

Any ideas?
Thanks for the help,
Eric.

I dont think you have to unzip it just browse to the archive using the icon selector.
Ive just installed a 17702-CrystalCurve.tar.bz2 this way.

That's because it's not a full icon set.

A full icon set covers mime types, applications, etc and will pretty much consist of an index.desktop. If the index.desktop is not in the archive then it won't install unless you change the icons yourself

How would I go about changing the icons myself? I just want to swap some out with some other icons I found online. Do I need to build a whole new theme for that?

Changing an icon with Mandrake is pretty painless, which one and where is the program located that you want to create an icon for or change?

I'm trying to change my home and trash icons. I have a few choices in mind. What kind of files do the icons need to be and what's the procedure?

It should just be a matter of: right click the icon -> properties -> left click the icon in the general tab and then use one of the icons provided or browse to one of your choice. You can also: left click on you desktop -> create new -> link to application ( program ) or link to url ( your email ).
