Icon files - where are they?

Could anybody tell me where the icon files are physically located in the Mandrake 8.1 file system? I would like to add some to the collection so that they're available from the various dialog boxes.

Thanks.

On Mandrake, different programs get their icons from different locations. Anything that came with your distribution will be in /usr/share/pixmaps or /usr/share/icons (or a subdirectory of those). Application-specific icons will usually be somewhere in /usr/share/name_of_application_.

I'm not sure but I don't think there are any ico files in Linux. I think most of the icons are png and xfm or something like that, but thanks.

Thanks jenna. I found them in /usr/share/icons and there were indeed several subdirectories there. I also found out, at least in my computer, that I couldn't save an icon directly into this directory as a user. I had to save it to my home directory and then copy it to /usr/share/icons as root.
