Icewm: Changing wallpaper ?

Hello,

I have a newbie question: Changing the wallpaper in for icewm.

I have:
Code:
chmod +x ~/.icewm/startup
That contains :
Code:
fbsetbg /home/frenchn00b/.icewm/wallpaper.jpg &
then at startup it gives the wallpaper of the theme.

and it displays the one of the theme silverxp.
then I changed in the default.theme of silverxp the value with :
Code:
#  Background of dialog windows
# ColorDialog="rgb:e0/df/e3"
DesktopBackgroundImage="background.jpg"
and the wallpaper is unscaled !

how to have somehow a scaled wallpaper working at startup.

I'm unsure of the steps that you've taken (it seems to me you set the wallpaper twice). I believe to achieve your goals, you only need edit one file. ~/.icewm/preferences

Code:
# Display desktop background centered and not tiled
DesktopBackgroundCenter=1 # 0/1

# Support for semitransparent terminals like Eterm or gnome-terminal
# SupportSemitransparency=1 # 0/1

# Desktop background scaled to full screen
# DesktopBackgroundScaled=0 # 0/1

#  Desktop background color
DesktopBackgroundColor="rgb:00/00/00"

#  Desktop background image
DesktopBackgroundImage="~/.icewm/background.jpg"
Unless I'm not understanding what you're trying to accomplish, that should to the trick.

_BONUS_

To edit settings for the entire system (not just your personal settings) you want /usr/share/icewm/preferences (or /usr/local/share/icewm/preferences if you installed from source). Good luck!!

Thanks for letting ME know about that

Yet another somewhat-newbie. Was poking around in usr/share/icewm with MC looking for this and could not find it. Thanks for letting me know it was under my nose the whole time. Geez!
