i8253 count too high! resetting..

Hello everyone

I have been getting this message : "i8253 count too high! resetting.." repeating itself over and over again on my RedHat 9 installation. The box is an Athlon K7 running at 1.6GHz on an Asus A7A266 motherboard (if memory serves). Does anyone have ANY idea at all what this message means or how to remedy the situation?

I've tried googling around and found some references to this message, but no real answers or solutions.
