i810 Chipzet onboard video disabled 4 good?

Running Red Hat 9 and having problem with my (so popular) Radeon 9000 w/ 64MB video card...i'm using a 900mhz p3 i810 chipzet w/ 256sdram and the thing with my BIOS is that it allows to chose between AGP and PCI video card, meaning there is no disabling going on so when i try and run startx on linux, it messes up and my monitor goes blank...i can only do so w/ onboard video card even though i picked the ATI Radeon 9000 64MB drivers on installation...I read manuel and no jumper to switch to manually disable da onboard video....any suggestions would be appreciated (besides ridding of my mobo and stuff)

Please post the manufacturer and model of your motherboard.

I have the same video card, and running Debian with kernel 2.4.21-3 I compiled a module for this card. ATI supplies a driver for Linux for that model.

Enabling PCI or AGP simply tells your bus controller which type and port the video card is on. This does not disable the onboard video. I suspect it can be disabled in CMOS.

RATZ! CURSIVE LUCK...just went to intel.com and looked up my I810E graphic card problem and its official...its not possible to disable the onboard, only possible to switch it from primary to secondary system video card...Now i'm curious to know if i can somehow edit linux so dat it uses the secondary video card, since i can only startx in linux r.h.9 with the onboard card, any way to have it start up in the secondary video card? (being my radeon, just BOUGHT IT...CAN"T USE IT....:-()

don't know much about unix in general but maybe theres a way to edit the pathway of the hardware, in this case the video card, and instead of lookin for AGP onboard, look for PCI IRQ say maybe 9....????
