Arrow I want to sign up for some space in a server

What do you recommend? So far, I have been using 80 megabytes of space provided by sdf.lonestar.org

I would like the following....

all essential UNIX tools,

Linux environment,

Either MySQL or MS SQL

of course, I am not asking for free server space. I am willing to pay for it.

Given that MS-SQL only runs in an MS env, you have to decide if you want an MS env, which would be the easiest way, or if you want to run it in a virtual system or use WINE.
Personally I'd just go Linux+MySQL unless you have a good reason to want both.

What you're looking for here then is a VPS, Virtual Private Server. With it you'll get a complete server running as a Virtual Machine. Just google for some local providers of VPSs.
