I want to shrink my dvds
 

I want to write dvds in dvd writer but sometimes I have faced that there are many dvds which is around 7gb but I am using 4.5gb dvds...
So, Please help me how to shrink the dvds into my 4.5 gb dvds(quality is a important matter) and is it also possible to shrink the dvds with their subtitles anyway it is not mendatory...
Again I am using K3b for burning and Fedora core5 as my os....

You want DVDShrink. It's a Windows program, but it works perfectly in WINE. It's also the fastest program for the function, shrinking a DVD in about 30 minutes (or less). All menus, subtitles, languages, etc. are preserved, and the quality is excellent.

Since you will need WINE, in FC5:

yum -y install wine

Then run winecfg. It's available from the menu Applications->System Tools->Wine Configuration. On the Applications tab, click on Default Settings, and set the Windows Version to Windows NT 4.0.

Now just run the DVDShrink installer. You can run the program with:

wine "C:\\Program Files\\DVD Shrink\\DVD Shrink 3.2.exe"

You will probably want to create a desktop launcher for convenience.

Dvdshrink is reported to work well in wine. If you don't want to install wine

It worked the one and only time I tried it. This tutorial was written by the guy who created dvdrequant afaik. Might be worth looking looking at dvdrequant if you're happy with the results. Not sure if it can do anything with subtitles.

my vote -> k9copy. very close (look and feel wise) to dvdshrink on windows

google streamdvd theres tons of stuff you can use in linux. make use of a search engine.
