I want to learn was d/t my wish to build my own Personal Video Recorder (PVR).
Hi, I 've been using Unbutu for ~6 months now, the Phoenix Linux Users Group (PLUG) helped me a lot with the Install and Printers Issues . A little more comfortable with it now.
The reason I wanted to learn was d/t my wish to build my own Personal Video Recorder (PVR). I 'm looking for How To ,ect for building it ( incl. - Which Distrbution, Best Hardware Choices) and How best to Install the OS and choices / parameters to select too. If anyone is aware of a web site / forum to obtain this information, it would be appreciated. Thank you, Mitch |
as for distribution? just about ANY distribution should work, if you are familiar with ubuntu then I see no reason why you shoudn't stick with ubuntu.
as for hardware? you could start [ur='http://www.linuxquestions.org/hcl/']here there are several ways you could set-up a pvr, but the most bare-bones is a video card that outputs as an MPEG stream, ffmpeg and cron or there's mythubuntu
an ubuntu based distribution based around MythTV either way, good luck ;) |
