I want to install Mint onto a slave hard drive

I have a machine running windows xp with two lave drives, one a new 1TB seagate. My cdrom drive is not working, but I have a usb drive that I can access the live cd. can I copy the cd to the new drive and make it a bootable drive without doing an install from the cd?

I have linuxmint mate addition 32 bit

You can do a frugal install of unetbootin can write the files to hdd as a file in windows, then you can install to the hdd.

Is your usb drive a pendrive, in other words a usb memory stick?
