Hi and welcome to the forum. To get updates, you need to be connected to the internet. As for your sound and printing, have you used the config tools in YaST to configure them?

hello reddazz
too bad for me. i dont have internet connection yet at home. i use a cyber cafe shop for my browsing. i thought i could save the updates in a disk and then install later at home.

yes, i actually ran YaST to configure the printer. a test page was even printed successfully. but it does not print other documents/photos - even those i create within office.
how do i configure the sound card? YaST shows my sound card is installed. could i be missing something?

thanks to ronlau9 too.

happy new year - 2009
mwangi, kenya.

Sound is configured in the hardware section of YaST. If sound is showing as being properly configured try adjusting your volume levels.
