Hello and Welcome to LinuxQuestions,

2.6.37 is the version number of a Linux Kernel and as far as I know not downloadable as ISO, but only as package. If you tell us what distro and version of Linux you have installed in your virtual machine we could indicate which commands to use to install and apply the new kernel.

Kind regards,

Eric

I think Ubuntu maybe that far up as far as 2.6.37 kernel, but not sure. I think I had the 2.6.35.
I think if you're going to learn start with the kernels that are in stable releases then after learning what makes them tick create another VM and have at it.

Debian is a good 1 ,but kernel is 2.6.32.

To make it clear, duanxc, the kernel is just one component of a fully functional Linux operating system. What you want is to install a distribution, which contains all the other software you need for a complete operating system. If you've not used Linux before, then Ubuntu or Linux Mint may be good choices of distribution for you. You might want to look at DistroWatch.com for information about various distributions you can use.
