After the upgrade my seamonkey web browser won't open. I got in a terminal and after using su then typed seamonkey it opend but I can't get seamonkey mail to open it's asks for root.
How can I get back to normal.

Upgrades can be something less than seamless. Often little things need to be corrected. Check the permissions on the seamonkey executables.

fedora might not like you running seamonkey AS ROOT
in particular "su" without the DASH
that will cause problems

you'r really not fully root unless you use " su - "

as i recall fedora 24 has a "launch nautilus as supperuser" in the menu

or use gtksu

there ARE SECURITY!!! checks for running a GUI as ROOT

and HOW did you install seamonkey ?
repo?
mozilla website?
( that would be the 32 bit !!!! needing the 32 bit plugins )
http://www.seamonkey-project.org/ --- 32 bit !

or the 64 bit "contrib"
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/seamonke.../2.40/contrib/

that uses the 64 bit plugins without the 32 bit wrapper

I suspect some permission fails. Look at the filesystem permissions on almost any file or group setting.

Guess you could try to un-install and install back.

I have never been a fan of upgrades.

I used dnf to remove the file. I then used dnf to install seamonkey. It's the latest 64 bit
I used dnf to do the upgrade they copied all files. dnf did the complete install. I've used yumex to check all files for upgrades about 200 have been upgraded since the initial install. I normally update daily.

the exact same way as in any text file on any computer in the last 30 years

l-click and hold -- highlight
r-click and select copy

< control > + < c > copy

< control > + < v > past

this is even the SAME as it is on MS windows and on OSX
