[SOLVED] I upgraded natty Narwhale to Onereic Ocelot, now Ubuntu won't boot

Update Manager told me that there was an upgrade available. When I downloaded and installed it the system hangs after a few "OK" returns. Can I repair this or do I have to do a clean install of Natty?

I can't believe Ubuntu would announce a beta via update manager like that - although I always turn the notification off.

Perhaps some more (detailed) info might clarify things.

The only way I can see a notification like the one OP reported is if he had "Notify of Pre-Release Versions" checked in his Synaptic configuration.

Ocelot is still in Alpha.
