So first of all, when you created the thread you were given an example of what a bad title is. Apparently you decided to copy+paste it.
Also, all that swearing is very irritating. I really doubt that a lot of people are willing to read your post. It is comprised of one gutter word after another.

Just to make sure that you do understand what I am trying to tell you:
Your post is crap!

@all_others: sorry for my last remark. But this had to be said.

Nottingham. Cool city

We went on vacation from the States to Europe a couple of years ago. My son is a big Games Workshop fan. So we spent a few days walking distance from Warhammer World. I have very pleasant memories of walking along the canal with my little thumb drive/MP3 player.

We don't need no stinkin' iTunes ;-)

PS:
Yes, I have an Apple nano, too. Never use it though - I prefer nice, portable MP3's.

PPS:
As rkski said, there ARE alternatives for using your iPod with open source. But the problem is that Apple keeps changing their format. Sometimes the "open" solutions work - sometimes they don't.

Your best bet is to keep you library in something like .ogg or .mp3 (or heck - even .wma) instead.

IMHO .. PSM

If you would tell us what distro you are using we could probably direct you to tutorials to help you learn. If you are using Ubuntu, I know a crap load of stuff to help you get started.
When I was new to linux I didn't know anything either. I did a lot of reading, and now I know enough to multiboot several linux distros plus WindowsXP. You will have to do some reading to get the most out of any linux distro.

It always helps to research what hardware is best supported in linux before you buy. When I wanted an mp3 player, I bought a Sandisk Sansa Fuze, because Sandisk advertises on their website that the Fuze supports linux. It is cheaper than the overpriced Apple products also.

You can get your ipod to work in linux though. Rhythmbox (on Gnome) and Amarok (on KDE) both support ipods.

And welcome to the LQ fourms!

Linux for newbies from about dot com.

Linux is not Windows. It's not hard, but it's different.

Apple does not support Linux because they want you in their Walled Orchard. Microsoft wants you behind closed Windows.

Linux knocks down walls and opens windows, so neither Apple nor Microsoft makes things easy for Linux.

There are workarounds, but one needs to stop, think, and research to find them.

Hi there,
@op - remember that this is a technical issue and you are not the first or the last person to have this issue. So someone before you has actually worked with this issue and has resolved it. I do not know if any one of us has a magic wand that we could wave and make it go away. It will need some co-operation from you.
I prefer not to have any non-portable stuff or hardware. Never used critunes. One hardware and one format and one way to play that file does not make a lot of sence to me.
I lent my linux (debian) laptop to my cousin - a windows only guy and using gtkpod he was able to sync the ipod after working it for say an hour. Hopefully you would be able to do the same. Post if you have any issues.
Hope this helps.

I got a headache from reading the first run-on section. I've seen better composition from non-native language speakers/composers.

You should look at 'How to Ask Questions the Smart Way' so in the future your queries provide information that will aid us in diagnosis of the problem. From this link you should learn not to use such speech or abbreviated text since things get rather confusing. Learn to communicate so we can aid you.
