yes, i know there have been lots of postings on this issue yes, i read them all and tried all the suggestions
and no, it's still not working
Even AMSN doesn't log me in on my Redhat 9
When I try to sign on MSN from Gaim, It asks me
"SSL support is needed for MSN, please install it"
I think the following lines seem to be the problem when I configure gaim (0.72):
checking for GNUTLS includes... ""
checking gnutls/gnutls.h usability... no
checking gnutls/gnutls.h presence... no
checking for gnutls/gnutls.h... no
checking for GNUTLS libraries... no
checking for mozilla-nss... Package mozilla-nss was not found in the pkg-config
search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `mozilla-nss.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'mozilla-nss' found
checking for Mozilla nspr4 includes in ... ""
checking nspr.h usability... no
checking nspr.h presence... no
checking for nspr.h... no
checking prio.h usability... no
checking prio.h presence... no
checking for prio.h... no
checking for Mozilla nspr4 libraries... no
checking for Mozilla nss3 includes... no
checking for Mozilla nss libraries... no
Can some guru plz point out the steps I need to take to resolve this issue?
I d/ld the new GAIM the other night and found that in order to get MSN I had to d/l the GNUTLS, but to get that, I needed something else, which in turn needed another thing... can't remember what they were. They weren't that big, and they appeared to only have the one broken dependency (ie GAIM needed GNUTLS needed XXX needed YYY), so installing YYY allowed XXX to compile nicely, which allowed GNUTLS to compile nicely which allowed GAIM to compile nicely with MSN support.
Go get GNUTLS and compile, it'll spew out the ftp site for the relevent dependancy. Compile this and it'll spew out it's broken dependancy. Get this and it'll compile fine.
