i pod wiped clean


i have an ipod and conected to my asus. my collection is not on the machine i just connected it to charge it up. i then pressed disconnect. My i pod has been wiped clean and i cant seem to get the asus to auto detect my ipod. it has given me some script to type in the konsole window but i have no idea where or what that is. i am a complete novice on linux and am beginning to wonder why i bought it and not the windows version. any ideas/ many thanks

First help us by telling us which version of linux you are using.

er not sure, it was bought Nov 08 and it a eeepc 901. Just an update dont think it has wiped i pod it just seems to have moved the tunes somewhere else on the i pod because it still shows the memory being used on i pod and libray is not on the notepad. i connec ipod but it will not auto detect. i will find version of linux asap

Hello,

You will need to give some more information.
Did the iPod remove the "Do not disconnect" image, prior to when you disconnected it. You can corrupt your files on the iPod if you don't disconnect properly.
You need to let us know what version of Linux you are using, and I presume that you connect through Amarok. Some versions of Linux will automatically detect the iPod through the HAL demon. Others will have to be mounted.
If things got corrupted on your iPod there is a file under iPod_Control/iTunes which I think is called iTunesDB. If something happens to that, you will have to wipe your iPod clean and reinstall. After your reinstallation you can load your iPod once again.

From what I understand, The Linux version of the ASUS eeePC is pre-installed with Xandros and the window manager in use is icewm.
